Role requirements


Driving Goods Vehicles occupational competence required.

IQA qualification, Teaching qualification, preferably Level 4 or above.

IAG qualification an advantage. Experience in quality assurance of AEB and/or apprenticeships.



Overview of the role:


The IQA will contribute to developing and maintaining productive relationships with all members of the organisation, other stakeholders and Awarding Organisations.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the quality delivery of internal quality assurance within their specific sector and field of expertise, resulting in the formative and summative quality assurance of Work-based Learning (WBL) and Employment Solutions (ES) learners. This will ensure that the National Occupational Standards (NOS) are both met and achieved in a timely and quality manner.

The post holder will keep up to date with new occupational standards and any changes to delivery requirements, ensuring that all information is then cascaded down to the relevant delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors through regular scheduled Standardisation Meetings.

The IQA will be responsible for driving the quality culture through the development and guidance of their direct line reports.

  • The day to day management of quality of their delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors and sites as well as delivering effective training solutions.


Main responsibilities:

  • Ensuring National Occupational Standards are maintained, and the assessment needs of the learners are being met

  • To carry out Internal Quality Assurance activities to meet the requirements of the Awarding Organisations and to ensure that standardisation across all the programmes is maintained.

  • Ensure effective management of quality and timely verification of assessment decisions and to ensure the quality of all Work-based and Sub-contractor centre-based delivery.

  • Ensure Standardisation Meetings are held on a regular basis and all subsequent information is cascaded to your delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors.

  • To support the Head of Quality to prepare for Quality, Monitoring and Support Visits.

  • Ensure that the delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors receive an appropriate level of induction into the centre and all programmes / processes

  • Work with the Operations Managers in effective management of delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors caseloads, including when delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors leave the organisation.

  • Development of a sampling strategy to include;

  1. Formative sampling – to include Off the Job training checks

  2. Summative sampling – to include End Point assessment checks and Off the Job training checks

  3. Schedule for Quality audits across all provisions

  4. QA – including Employer and Learner interviews

  5. Implementation of systems to monitor assessment and moderation practice and maintain standardisation of verification and assessment judgement, ensuring internal delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors make valid decisions and learners are assessed fairly.

  6. Maintain Work-based and Sub-contractor centre files are up to date and all records relating to the delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors and quality assurance procedures are valid and current.

  7. Ensure the full embedding of all relevant policies and Health & Safety requirements are complied with and all parties are given fair access to verification and quality assessment.

  8. Liaison with other members of the Quality Assurance Team, Standards Verifier and Internal and External auditors, putting in place all arrangements for their visits and follow-up action plans within specified timescales, in conjunction with the Head of Quality, whilst maintaining quality records for inspection purposes.

  9. Deal with the administrative aspects of all accredited programmes.

  10. To encompass the company’s ethos of equal opportunities and diversity for all.

  11. Additional duties appropriate to the post as directed by the company.

  12. Contribute to the preparation and management of Quality, Awarding Organisation and Ofsted inspection visits, ensuring Direct Claims Status (DCS) and Ofsted Grade 1 is strived towards.

  • Drive the improvement of quality within your specific sector and expertise area.

  • Contribute to own and team performance including, absence / attendance management, constructive / participative teamwork and Equal Opportunities.

  • Contribute to the strategic development of the company in partnership with other departments.


Effective quality management and improvement:

  • Meet, and where possible exceed, required quality standards in relation to the role including performance monitoring alongside the Head of Quality,

  • Work closely with the quality department following quality procedures and ensuring quality processes are embedded within all Work-based and Sub-contractor activities.

  • Ensure Observation of Teaching and Learning is carried out and provide relevant outcome and documentation is fed back to staff and Head of Quality.

  • Ensure feedback, action plans and verification are of a quality standard and SMART.

  • Responsible for the completion and maintenance of the relevant sections of the company SAR relating to your specific sector area of delivery.

  • Support the ongoing support, guidance and development of the delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors.

  • Carry out regular one to ones with your sector delivery skills coaches and functional skills tutors ensuring quality support and guidance is provided, copies to be given to their relevant Managers.

  • Develop, promote and embrace equality of opportunity, both in word and action, in line with the Company’s values, policies and procedures.

  • Understand responsibilities within your role around delivering effective Information Advice & Guidance (IAG) to learners, staff and stakeholders.

  • Support the organisations feedback processes, ensuring quality and accurate information is obtained.

  • Contribute to own and team performance.

  • Contribute to the wider operational aims of the company, including Equality and Diversity, and Health and Safety and Environmental policies.


Liaison, co-ordination and development:


  • Liaison with other staff as appropriate in the continuous development of the organisation.

  • Liaison and coordination with all internal departments, via Line / Senior Managers, to support activities and development as appropriate.

  • Liaison and assistance in the preparation for inspections by Ofsted, Awarding Organisations and other Internal and External audit teams.


Business-focused self-development:

  • Take responsibility for self-development in line with the organisation’s operations and strategic objectives.

  • To present and conduct yourself in a diligent and professional manner to Employers, Sub-contractor Partners / Associates, Learners and External Agencies, including the promotion of the company at all times.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A1, D32 / 33 or TAQA qualified and must have assessed in the last 2 years

  • D34, IV or IQA qualified and must have IV’d in the last 2 years

  • PTLLS/AET, CTLLS/CET, DTLLS/DET or Cert Ed/PGCE teaching qualification

  • Qualifications and experience in subject specialist area.

  • Full understanding of Awarding Organisation standards.

  • Experience in DGV delivery and quality assurance


Safeguarding of learners:

  • The individual must be prepared to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Services check and disclose it to the employer if requested.

  • Application of the company’s safeguarding policy and procedures.


The individual must be prepared to undertake other duties as defined by their operations manager.
