Job Title: Data Control Team Leader

To successfully manage the flow of work and processing into the department from Partners and internal self-Delivery teams, ensuring that all learner documentation is processed and stored accurately and timely in line with internal policies and processes.

The post holder will be responsible for creating and producing Management information as agreed with the Head of Compliance and Funding, to enable accurate and clear reporting which is always readily available.

To support the department to ensure that our data meets ESFA and Devolved area contract requirements and adheres to information security standards.

Ensure that the monthly ILR upload to ESFA and devolved areas is maximised and actioned in a timely and accurate manner and that any error reports from the upload are rectified prior to final submission deadline.



  • To effectively manage and mentor the Data Analysis and Resolutions Officer, ensuring output is consistently accurate & compliant to ESFA and Devolved area rules and GDPR requirements.

  • Individual team member objective settings and holding regular review meetings.

  • To monitor the adherence of processes and to work with Partners and our Self-Delivery team to provide training as required to ensure all required processes are followed.

  • Work closely with the Audit & Compliance Managers to ensure the Compliance teams have work allocated in a timely manner with a clear understanding of volumes due for processing in month.

  • Work Closely with the Data Analysis & resolutions Officer to ensure Open Pots and Pending aims are rectified and resubmitted for processing in a timely manner.

  • To provide the Head of Compliance & Funding with clear and accurate MI on processing, related funding, and any areas of concern.

  • To work closely with the Contracts and Partnership Manager to ensure expected partner delivery numbers are received, providing detail of any discrepancies in submissions.

  • To Work closely with System Group AEB Delivery Manager to ensure expected partner delivery numbers are received, providing detail of any discrepancies in submissions.

  • To Manage the SCA inbox ensuring emails are actioned in a timely manner.

  • To work with the MI team and Finance to develop and maintain a Dashboard of accurate visual reports as required for reporting on all areas of processing for monthly upload and performance.

  • Retain full and up to date awareness of Government & Devolved area Funding and ILR Guidance

  • General administrative tasks



  • Educated to A Level or equivalent.


  • Previous Team Leading/Management experience with mentoring skills.

  • Previous experience in a Government funded Audit & Compliance role within AEB.

  • Experience of Maytas/PICs and the various other data systems.

  • In-depth knowledge of ESFA Funded programmes such as Apprenticeships levy and non-levy, Adult Skills Budget, ESF.

  • Good understanding of OFSTED inspection processes, to support the wider team.

  • Business Improvement, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Highly organised and strong attention to detail.

  • Good team player, contributing to your own and team performance.

  • Excellent IT skills.
