Ambassador of Hope Workshop

June 21, 2019

Recently at our head office in Liverpool, our management team attended a training session called ‘Ambassador of Hope’ which was delivered by Jake Mills, founder of ‘Chasing the Stigma’.

Chasing the Stigma is an amazing charity founded by Jake from his own experience of mental health issues, dealing with mental illness and living with positive mental health.

The twenty-minute session covered Jake’s own battles with depression, his recovery and his vision and passion to change the way society approaches mental illness.

The training was informal, straight to the point and very thought provoking, with lots of encouragement to raise questions and share thoughts. It  was very powerful and provided the knowledge and tools to understand how we can all make a difference and to talk about mental health and how and where to find help.

There is also a mobile phone app called, ‘Hub of Hope’ which, at the touch of a button, gives access to a national mental health database, bringing together organisations and charities from across the country who offer mental health advice and support, together in one place. Many of us at System Group will be downloading the amazing tool, something I believe everyone should have access to on their phones.

We are proud to have taken part in this training and to be able to raise awareness and make a difference and we hope other businesses will have the ambassador of hope training and help equip their teams with the knowledge and tools needed to talk confidently about mental health. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jake for sharing his experiences with us, for showing us that its ok not to feel ok and to show us that we can all help, and we can all make a difference.
