System Group attended IntraLogisteX this year as proud sponsors on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March. The free event took place in the Ricoh Arena Coventry. Each day showcased all the latest technology available in the logistics sector, giving visitors the chance to explore each innovation in depth. It covered many different aspects, including warehouse automation, materials handling, IT & software and picking & sortation.
Over 30 companies attended the event this year, meaning that lots of new technology was being displayed to guests.
One of these included the L-Matic robotic pallet, exhibited by Linde Material Handling. The truck has a capacity of 1.2 tonnes and acceleration to 1.6 m/s maximum, with or without a load.
As well as this, Cimcorp, pioneers of automated robotic solutions, exhibited at IntraLogisteX for the first time. They highlighted their MultiPick solution, along with its 3D Shuttle solution – used for automatic retrieval of plastic crates and other equipment required for order fulfilment.
During the trade show, the Institute of Couriers asked two hundred individuals ‘What is logistics?’. Each participant had to answer in five words, without using the word logistics. An employee of System Group chose the winner – Undergraduate Huw Saunders from Birmingham University. Saunders’ response to the task given was ‘Orchestration of process operations’, which didn’t fail to impress the crowd.
Overall, the event was a huge success. System Group, as well as other visitors, had a great time discovering new devices and equipment in the logistics sector.
