WHAT ARE FUNDED ADULT COURSES?
The Adult Education Budget (AEB) is a fund that has been set up by the government to help support the delivery of education and training to people aged 19 and over. AEB funding aims to engage adults in learning and provide them with learning opportunities to help them to gain new skills and knowledge and confidence to gain employment, progress in work or to further their education
At System Group we have years of experience, providing our learners with help, support, and the practical skills and knowledge that are required to succeed in the workplace. We offer a number of pathways to get you into work or up the career ladder towards your desired role.
Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer.
Working in partnership with employers, providers and local authorities, System group at the forefront of tacking the key sector issues of driver shortages while also supporting people gain skills for life, support skills demands in their local area, and ultimately to help people get a better job.
The Education Secretary said: “HGV drivers are vital to keeping this country moving. It’s brilliant to see the first people with their hands on the steering wheel as they head towards new well-paid careers in the industry.
The courses are suitable if you’re new to heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driving, or you’re returning to driving. These are free and are available for adults aged 19 or over who are either currently in work or who are recently unemployed and live in England.
At System Group, Skills Bootcamps will be delivered using a blended approach of virtual classroom or classroom-based delivery (at an employer site), online and practical methods.
Courses are free for learners, and include all of the costs for:
Getting a provisional licence, including your medical exam
Taking each of the 4 Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) tests, and one re-sit per test
Sector-based work academy programmes are a national scheme, run by Jobcentre Plus, to help employers recruit a workforce with the right skills to sustain and grow their business.
A sector-based work academy programme can last up to six weeks or more and has three main components:
Pre-employment training matched to the employer’s business needs.
Work experience placement to learn new skills on the job and gain valuable qualifications for the future.
At the end of the programme, learners are guaranteed either a job interview with an employer or help with the application process.
Anyone aged 19 and over who receives unemployment benefit is eligible to join a programme – and won’t lose their benefit during the placement.
The government will pay any travel and childcare costs whilst benefit claimants are on the scheme. There is no direct cost to an employer for running a sector-based work academy as training and administration costs are covered by government funding.
NATIONAL SKILLS FUND
As the nation starts to recover in a post-pandemic climate, the government is investing £1.6 billion over the next 3 years into the National Skills Fund to help adults train and gain the valuable skills they need to improve their job prospects.
Any adult aged 19 and over who wants to achieve their first full level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or 2 full A-levels, will be able to access hundreds of fully-funded courses.
This new Level 3 adult offer is part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee, a long-term commitment to remove the age constraints and financial barriers for adults.
Under the National Skills Fund, System Group are currently delivering:
• L3 Logistics (+Licence Acquisition)
• L3 Warehousing & Storage (RQF)
• L3 IT User Skills
After the completion of your adult education programme with System Group, you will be provided with the opportunity to interview with one of our local logistical employer partners. Our Learner Experience Officers will be on hand to support in your transition into employment, from discussing next actions to preparing you for your interviews.
You will be provided with access to our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called Aptem as part of your enrolment with your Coach.
This VLE hosts all your learning content for the curriculum and you will need to access this throughout the whole of your journey.
After you have completed work you will submit/upload the work to Aptem where your Coach will be able to access it and provide any feedback.
An E-portfolio system is also used to track the progress you make against some key milestones within your programme. It will support the Skills Coaches with their planning and store evidence of your achievements throughout your journey with System Group Ltd. Reports can be pulled to track attendance of visits and progress against targets. Skills Coaches will utilise the E-portfolio system during milestone reviews with you and your line manager/mentor to provide updates on your progress against your individual learning plan (ILP).
Once achieving a driving qualification with System Group, we have partnered with the recruitment platform TeamTailor to seamlessly promote our learners new and improved CV’s. We will ensure that our talented learners new skillsets are noticed by the right people to get our learners into their desired location’s and careers .
