NVQ Courses
Leading
to nationally recognised qualifications gained through demonstrating
a range of specific skills relevant to payroll or accounting roles.
Ideally suited to employed or self-employed people whose work either
partly or fully involves accounting or payroll tasks. Training is
provided through structured workshops at our Carlisle training centre
although students also have the option of studying on an open learning
basis which will involve more home based study with one to one assessment
and support given to you at your workplace as well as at our training
centre.

AAT Foundation (NVQ2 Accounting)
Covers the basic principles of ledger accounting and methods of
recording financial transactions, using both manual and computerised
accounting systems. Suitable for people with no previous accounting
qualifications or experience.
AAT Intermediate (NVQ3 Accounting)
Develops the skills gained at the Foundation stage by looking at
the preparation of basic accounting statements and returns. Suitable
for people with some previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
AAT Technician (NVQ4 Accounting)
A further development of the Intermediate stage that looks at more
detailed financial and costing statements produced by accountants.
The course also explores more specialist areas of accounting such
as taxation and auditing.
NVQ2 Payroll Administration
For payroll clerks or trainee payroll assistants with little or
no previous experience of working within the payroll function.
NVQ3 Payroll Administration
For more experienced payroll staff or payroll supervisors who already
have some previous knowledge of recording and accounting for payroll
transactions.

Introduction to Bookkeeping
A three day course which covers the basics of bookkeeping and maintaining
manual ledger accounts including posting financial transactions,
balancing ledger accounts and preparation of control accounts and
the Trial Balance. Suitable for people with little or no previous
experience of accounting or bookkeeping.
